Damn. Sometimes if you know you got to pay, you have to figure the best thing to do is not show up at a high profile event if you owe.

Boombox.com reports that Scarface’s honorary tribute at the 2015 BET Hip-Hop Awards ended on a sour note after the rap legend was reportedly arrested backstage after receiving his prestigious I Am Hip-Hop Award on Friday (Oct. 9).

According to photographer/blogger Freddy-O, the Houston rhymer was leaving the stage when reportedly 10 sheriffs approached ‘Face and subsequently arrested him. Insiders informed the blogger that Scarface was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant in the State of Texas for unpaid child support. Freddy-O writes:

Scarface was so concerned about accepting his award and not disappointing his fans he risked being arrested. Snoop was back stage when Scarface was arrested and was upset that; the great moment ended on a sour note. The incident resulted in the show being delayed.”

As we previously reported, Scarface received the coveted I Am Hip-Hop Award for his venerable career in rap music. Fellow rapper Ludacris presented the honor to the former Geto Boys rhymer who delivered a very short acceptance speech. “I’m not (expletive) without y’all,” he said while raising the award in the air before walking off.

Reps for Scarface had no comment on the matter. According to AllHipHop.com, the veteran rapper was in great spirits before he accepted his award and there was no indication that something was awry.

Hopefully, Scarface has rectify his situation and is out of police custody. This is not how a rap legend should go out at a hip-hop awards show.

In the meantime, the 2015 BET Hip-Hop Awards will air on BET on Oct. 13 at 8PM ET. To check out photos from the event, head over to BET.com.

Nick Gordon: Bobbi Krsitina’s Family Is Painting Me as Scumbag Murderer

et_dr_phil_gordon_031015300

TMZ reports that Nick Gordon says Bobbi Kristina’s family is painting him as a murderer (see here) and scumbag to the point he will never get a fair trial if he’s criminally prosecuted.

Gordon says in legal docs the Brown family has painted him a “murderer, a habitual batterer of women, a seducer of young white females, a thief and/or con man fueled by monetary gain, and a chemist capable of making a toxic cocktail.”

Gordon is asking the judge to stop the $40 million wrongful death lawsuit the Browns filed against him until the criminal process runs its course.

The big thing for Gordon … he says he has a right to remain silent, and the civil case would force him to answer questions that could be used against him if criminal charges are filed.

Superstar singer Rihanna recently cleared the air on any rumors surrounding her and Chris Brown having on having an ongoing secret relationship.

Rihanna tells Vanity Fair

“…I was very protective of him. I felt that people didn’t understand him. Even after … But you know, you realize after a while that in that situation you’re the enemy. You want the best for them, but if you remind them of their failures, or if you remind them of bad moments in their life, or even if you say I’m willing to put up with something, they think less of you—because they know you don’t deserve what they’re going to give. And if you put up with it, maybe you are agreeing that you [deserve] this, and that’s when I finally had to say, ‘Uh-oh, I was stupid thinking I was built for this.’ Sometimes you just have to walk away.” Now, she says, “I don’t hate him. I will care about him until the day I die. We’re not friends, but it’s not like we’re enemies. We don’t have much of a relationship now.”

Fredro Starr Shares His Thoughts on His Battle with Keith Murray

Onyx’s Fredro Starr, who was accompanied by Loaded Lux , recently commented about his long awaited battle against Def Squad representative, Keith Murray.

When asked how he felt the battle went down, the “Slam” emcee described to DJ Vlad his match up as hip hop history and also expressed his opinion that the bout was a good look for the battle rap as a whole.
Fans of the culture as well as emcees in this era usually prefer battles that are acapella rather than having competitors spit to an instrumental. When asked if he felt there was difference battling to a beat, the Onyx member stated that although he prefers to battle without a beat, an emcee must be versatile enough to perform in whatever format that is provided.

Many who were in attendance for the showdown shared the same belief that Fredro Starr was the victor of the battle. After the legendary Loaded Lux told Vlad he felt the same way, Starr humbly stated that it is up for the fans to decide.

50 Cent Blames Empire’s Rating Drop on ‘Too Much Gay Stuff’

empire_50_cent_gay_stuff

50 Cent is back to his old antics again with starting beef, only this time it’s with Lee Daniel’s hit show Empire!

Huffingtonpost reports that viewership for the second episode of this season of “Empire” was down 2.3 million people — 18 percent — and 50 Cent thinks he knows why.

The rapper took to Instagram to blame it on all the “gay stuff.” Ugh.

More precisely, 50 Cent posted a screengrab of a post from Industry on Blast’s Instagram account that was captioned, “There are 3 million less [sic] viewers who tuned into last night’s Empire episode!!!! did you watch it? We could not take the extra gay stuff or celebrity stuff last night!!!!”

For the few non-“Empire”-watchers out there: One of the lead characters on the show, Jamal Lyons, played by Jussie Smollett, is an openly gay musician who was tapped to be the CEO of Empire Entertainment at the end of Season 1. The Season 2 premiere also featured a plotline about an effort to use female sex appeal to convince a lesbian investor, played by Marisa Tomei, to invest in a new music company.

Despite the drop, the ratings for the second episode of “Empire” in the coveted 18-49 demo were still good enough to handily beat every other scripted show on TV last week.

Viewership for the Fox show is also about four times higher than that of the top-rated episode of “Power,” the drama that 50 Cent produces for Starz. It wouldn’t be a stretch to connect 50 Cent’s insensitive social media commentary on “Empire” to the rivalry between the two shows, both of which feature mostly black casts.

50 Cent, for his part, recanted his Instagram comments — sort of. He took down the original post and put up, in its stead, the following photo:

The photo was captioned, “It must be a slow news week, they’re gonna say 50 said Empire lost 3 million views because of to much gay shit. He only said cookie call me, but the fucking kid is fucking up the show. Now every one is waiting for POWER, I told him to lay low.”

50 Cent’s defense seems to be that he wasn’t the one who wrote the original caption talking about the “gay stuff” — he just reposted it! But his sincerity is undercut by his reference to Jamal as “the fucking kid […] fucking up the show.” Not to mention the fact that his Instagram profile lacks the crucial social media disclaimer “Reposts ≠ endorsements”!

Lee Daniels Apologizes for Insulting Jennifer Lopez

IMG_3299

On this week’s past episode of Empire, Taraji P. Henson’s character Cookie made a comment about Jennifer Lopez’s singing ability, and it was not kindly.

During the episode Cookie Lyon tells son Hakeem, who’s putting together an all girl group,

“Ain’t nothing wrong with a couple of JLos…as long as they can really sing.”

Last night  Lee Daniels apologized to Jennifer

Empire creator  Lee Daniels apologized for Cookie’s line on the show…and even offered her a guest starring role on FOX’s hit show.
