Eminem Mourns Death of ‘8 Mile’ Director Curtis Hanson at 71: He ‘Believed in Me’ | EURweb

Eminem and Curtis Hanson on the set of “8 Mile”*Eminem has released a statement on the death of Curtis Hanson — the director of his 2002 semi-autobiographical film “8 Mile” — who died Tuesday at the age of 71.“Curtis Hanson believed in me and our crazy idea to make a rap battle movie set in Detroit. He basically made me into an actor for 8 Mile. I’m lucky I got to know him,” Eminem said in a statement to Billboard.Hanson died of “natural causes” and was declared dead by paramedics late Tuesday afternoon at his Hollywood Hills home, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The filmmaker won a screenwriting Oscar for “L.A. Confidential” and directed the psychological thriller “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.”On working with Eminem in a 2002 interview with Rolling Stone, Hanson said: “I knew going into it that he had experience performing and also adopting a character, Slim Shady. What I was looking for was actually the opposite of that. When you adopt a characterization, that’s artificial. You hide behind that. What I needed in this story was the appearance of a complete lack of artifice. I needed the appearance of one more or less exposing himself emotionally.“And, so in my getting to know him, I had to assess and then make an educated guess of whether he would be able to do to that and whether he would trust me and the environment I would create enough to do that.”

Wale Threatens Magazine Staff Over “50 Best Albums of 2013” List (Audio)

Hip Hop artist Wale, went nuts on the phone with the staff at Complex Magazine, because he didn’t make the cut on their  “50 Best Albums of 2013” list

“At this point, you know it’s got to be personal,” he said. “You telling me it’s not personal. It’s like a bold face lie. To be omitted from every type of list that y’all do or be at the bottom of it or every type of way that y’all can omit me, ya will.”

I told him it was not a personal thing. He cut me off.

“You mean to tell me Juicy J album better than mine?” he said, his voice rising. “Is that what you trying to tell me?”

I swear to God I’ll come to that office and start knocking n****s the f*ck out. Alright. I’ll see y’all tomorrow. Get the security ready!

Kanye West Claims That He Is The Next Nelson Mandela

Well damn, the madness that falls out of Kanye West’s mouth just rolls downhill. Apparently since the death of the late Nelson Mandela has left an open space, and Mr. West claims he’s the man to fill it. Expect a shit storm of blow back in 5…4…3..

The dailycurrant.com says that in an interview with WGCI radio in Chicago, the notoriously self-promoting rapper said that yesterday’s death of the 95-year-old South African leader will finally allow people to focus more of their attention on West’s own accomplishments.

In the studio to promote his new music video Bound 2, the conversation soon turned to the day’s biggest news out of South Africa. West was asked who he thought on the world stage today could possibly replace Nelson Mandela in terms of leadership, and his unconventional answer left heads spinning.

“I am the next Nelson Mandela,” West responded. “I’m only 36 years old, and when I look at everything I’ve accomplished, it’s the only comparison that makes any sense. By the time I’m 95, I’m going to be a bigger hero than he ever was.

“Nelson Mandela did a lot of good work, don’t get me wrong. But I think I’m on track to do something even bigger. I liberate minds with my music. That’s more important than liberating a few people from apartheid or whatever.

“Not to say Mandela wasn’t for real. I have mad respect. I just think we need to keep things in perspective here. Anyone can be replaced. And I think I’m well on my way towards being the next great black leader. I’m already worshiped around the world. And there’s more to come.”

Former South African president and anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela died yesterday after years of declining health. His legacy of peaceful reconciliation has been universally praised by political leaders, the media and ordinary citizens around the world.

Kanye West, for his part, is known for going to extraordinary lengths to focus attention on himself. His reaction today was so unusual, however, that host Adrian Cronauer decided to challenge his assertions.

“What have you actually done for civil rights?” he asked. “Have you been involved in any campaigns? Any political activities? It seems to me comparing yourself to Mandela is a bit of a stretch.”

“I’ve blazed a trail with my career,” West responded. “I faced immeasurable racism when I entered this profession. I mean how many black rappers can you name that came before me? I was a pioneer. And now I’m doing the same thing in the fashion world.

“Not to mention I have a bigger market than he ever did. Mandela was working in South Africa, which has, like what, six people? I started my magic here in the USA and then I took my business global. Worldwide baby.

“I just want everyone out there to know. I see y’all crying on the TV. Being all sad. Just know that Kanye’s gonna carry on Mandela’s legacy. There’s nothing to worry about. I got this.”

Fantasia’s Baby’s Daddy Is Back Together With His Estranged Wife

Damn! As if most of Fantasia’s fans didn’t see this coming, her baby’s father, Antwaun Cook, is now reportedly back with his estranged wife! Let’s hope NC’s law about spouses suing mistresses will not come into play on this one!

Radaronline reports that  he left the American Idol winner to work on his marriage with estranged wife, Paula Cook.

“Antwaun’s father passed away the week of Father’s Day and they were really close, so since then he’s been wanting to work on his marriage,” a source close to the situation told Radar.

“Technically he’s still married to Paula and they’re back together now. The only tie he still has to Fantasia is his son, Dallas.”
