Nick Cannon has said that he is bringing back the famed TV show Soul train back to television on NBC.
According to Eurweb, at this past weekend’s American Black Film Festival in South Beach, Cannon revealed that he recently struck a deal to bring the musical variety show to NBC, via his production company NCredible Entertainment.
“One of the things I’m the most excited about, and we’re just now starting to talk about it is the re-launch of Soul Train and that coming back,” Cannon told theGrio’s Chris Witherspoon. “It means so much for our culture. It truly is something that to be able to bring through my deal at NBC Universal is that in itself is kind of taking it to the next level for where the brand began. I’m excited about that.”
Early Friday morning, Lamar Odom was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). TMZ reports that the NBA player was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol on a freeway in the San Fernando Valley for driving too slowly at 3:54 a.m. on Aug. 30. He is currently being held on $15,000 bail. CBSLA notes it is unclear if he has posted bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 27, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department report.
The arrest comes after news surfaced that Odom has allegedly been struggling with drug addiction. It was previously reported that he went missing for 72 hours and friends and family are concerned about him. The substance abuse has reportedly also taken a toll on his marriage to Khloe Kardashian.
“It’s a really hard time for Khloe. She’s kept this secret for almost two years trying to save Lamar and their marriage,” a source told People magazine. “Lamar genuinely doesn’t think he has a problem – it’s all ‘work hard then party hard’ with him until it goes off the rails. They really do love each other. But she really feels that this problem is out of control, and she’s hurt that he won’t get help.”

“Kris did get a ratings bump for her last show when Kanye West revealed the first baby pic of daughter, North West, with Kim, but that was a one time shot in the arm and it wouldn’t be indicative of what the ratings trend would be,” the source close to the production told the gossip site.
Halfway through the August 23 episode of the show, which also featured an episode-long interview with West, the first picture of baby North was unveiled. Within seconds it shot out to even the farthest reaches of the Internet.
But the interest in what will most likely end up being the show’s final episode was not enough to save it. The show struggled from the get-go, averaging an abysmal 0.8 rating.
“It’s a very crowded market and Kris didn’t do anything to set herself apart from the field. Believe it or not, most of America doesn’t want to hear about the Kardashian’s for an hour everyday,” the source revealed.
LAHH producer Mona Scott thinks she’s upping the ante for her fans of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta by adding rapper Woka Floka Flame and his girlfriend Tammy Rivera to the cast next season. StraightfromtheA reports that:

Love & Hip Hop star Lil Scrappy, was arrested at an Atlanta gas stating after going all in during a fight with a dude that was talking smack about his girlfriend, Bambi.
TMZ reports that cops received a call about a brawl going down inside the gas station around 2:33 AM. We’re told an off-duty police officer from Atlanta happened to be at the same gas station and sprang into action — successfully breaking up the fight. We’re told Scrappy was very cooperative once in custody — and was released a short time later.
“He was calling my girlfriend names and then put his hands on me … so I had to lay them paws on him.”
Scrappy’s lawyer Mawuli Mel Davis tells us there’s video that proves Scrappy was acting in self-defense. Scrappy says he plans to cooperate with law enforcement moving forward — and is now trying to focus on the next season of his reality show.
Last week it was reported that Johnny Gill was suing The Four Seasons Beverly Hills, claiming the hotel didn’t intervene when a drunk white man hurled racial insults at him and beat him so badly he was unable to perform.
Well now the New Edition singer is refuting the claim of the lawsuit stating:
“Can you imagine some old white motherf*cker whippin’ my ass? He got a better chance of Hitler comin’ back!”– Johnny Gill
When EUR’s Lee Bailey got crooner Johnny Gill on the phone to inquire further about the story circulating that some old white man had beat his arse, no one was more surprised to hear it than Johnny.
“I just started getting phone calls from everybody saying ‘Hey, I heard you got beat up. Is it something that I don’t know about,’ he tells Bailey.
“A couple of years ago, I was out with friends for dinner and this white guy comes over and he’s plastered and I’m talking with one of my girlfriend’s friend … she’s Caucasian, and he starts making some comments … I looked at him like, ‘you talkin’ to me?’ [then] jumped up to, you know, get in his ass and one of my friends who was at the table jumps up too and he grabs me and pulled me back to not hit this guy … I tripped over a heat lamp at the hotel,” Gill states.
He says he went to the hospital later because his shoulder was hurting and the doctors said his shoulder was “dislocated.” The singer then contacted the Four Seasons Hotel to relay what happened; and asked them to pay the hospital costs because he had gotten injured on their property. They refused and his lawyer encouraged him to file a lawsuit.
“So nothing ever happened. A fight never took place…” Gill confirms.
Security was nowhere to be found during the incident, where he was having dinner with friends before the interruption. Guards did, however, show up later, after everything had calmed down.
